We welcome you to the new year with great expectations and motivation. The key theme of our work in 2025 will focus on Women’s role in Indigenous Food Systems, Climate Resilience Actions, Food Security and African Diaspora Agrofood Entrepreneurship. Women constitute a substantial proportion of agrofood entrepreneurs with projects in Europe and Africa.
Despite their vital contributions to this sector, women’s efforts and challenges do not receive as much recognition and support as deserved. Female entrepreneurs face unique barriers that significantly influence their roles and opportunities in the agrofood industry. Addressing these challenges is essential to unlocking their full potential and ensuring sustainable development.
There is also a pressing need to bring the achievements and challenges of female entrepreneurs to the attention of policymakers; to influence the creation of favorable policies that support and promote female entrepreneurship.
All our activities will align with our main theme of the year. Thus the 9th African Diaspora Agrofood Forum (#ADAF25) will focus on women entrepreneurship in the diaspora. it will serve as an important platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, share the latest trends, and foster beneficial partnerships for the growth of women led businesses and projects within the agrofood sector.
ADAF 2025 Vision:
- Empower African Diaspora Female Agrofood Entrepreneurs: Advocate for and provide tools to enhance the capacities of African women entrepreneurs.
- Align with Global Milestones: Mark the global celebration of Beijing+30 by revisiting strategies and resources to empower African women entrepreneurship.
- Engage Relevant Stakeholders: Facilitate discussions, learning opportunities, networking, and the creation of impactful partnerships to strengthen the agrofood sector.
- Policy Advocacy: Ensure female entrepreneurs' contributions are highlighted to policymakers, driving the formulation of supportive policies that foster equity and innovation in female entrepreneurship.
