Banner Agrofood Training

The Food Bridge vzw adapted some sessions of the Agrofood Training for Nigerian small holder farmers, to fit with the Covid restrictions. Thus there will be virtual mentorship sessions. Our aim is to have established farmers and agrofood entrepreneurs share their experiences, not just the success stories but the challenges too. We will also actively work towards creating a mentorship scheme for those that partcipate in the training.

The first mentorship session will be at Yinka Adesola's organic farm in Ago Amodu, Saki East Local Government Area of Oyo State Nigeria. Yinka Adesola is an experienced organic Farmer, Trainer and consultant. She is also the co-Founder Farmvilla Resource Centre, an agribusiness training and consulting company . This session will be at10am on the 31st of March 2021.

The next mentorship session will be facilitated by Dr Suzanne Awung, the Founder of the Forgotten Green Heroes and Suzy Farms Cameroon. She is a researcher, organic farmer and agrofood entrepreneurship facilitator.  She is an advocate of local solutions for sustainable farming in Africa and has trained many rural farmers on how to use local resources to improve their yields and income. This will be a two part session focusing first on crops and then livestock. The sessions will be on the 3rd and 17th of April 2021 at 11am.

Access to funding and financial resources is always a challenge to African Agrofood Entrepreneurs especially those in rural areas. Many of the producers do not even have information about government financial initiaves or external funding opprotunities. On the 26th of April 2021, Mr Levi Anyikwa, a Deputy Director at the Small amd Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), will be speaking at a session on accessing funds and government initiatives in Nigeria.

The next session of our Agrofood Entrepreneurship Training in Nigeria will focus on exporting food products from Nigeria. This session scheduled for the 3rd of June 2021 at 5pm Nigerian time is with Mr Arnold Jackson, Deputy Director/ Regional Coordinator South - East, Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
