Food Santa 2020

According to Brussels Times News outlet, over 1.2million people in Belgium have applied for temporary unemployment because of the Covid pandemic. Many more with low paid jobs which are not usually very secured, will also be greatly affected by this pandemic. Even those with seemingly stable economic status, have also felt the financial impact of this pandemic on their livelihoods.

Irrespective of one’s social and economic status, Christmas 2020 will not be the same as in previous years. We want to make the food security of our communities the focus of the 2020 Christmas festivities and  also use the campaign to show resilient communities emerge in times of crisis, when people look out for each other.

We are  initiating our FOOD SANTA Campaign from 15th December to 31st December 2020.

How does it work?

There are 2 ways one can be a part of this campaign;

1. Corporate participation: Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, many companies will no longer be holding their end of year festivities. Thus we are requesting Christmas donations of food boxes from companies for  families that need support. Companies can decide what type of food to include in the boxes, although we suggest a variety of healthy non-perishable food. The boxes can have festive food too and small presents for kids, nothing ostentatious.

2. Individual participation: People  can also donate food items or food boxes to us for those that need support or they can donate directly to the families.

For the Food Bridge vzw, the focus is  always on initiatives that support communities while insuring food security, irrespective of race or background.

Running this campaign with our Helping Hand Project will need a lot of resources. If you will like to make a food donation or  volunteer for this initiative, contact:
